Applications are invited for a full-time Anatomical Pathologist and Head of Service / Discipline Director, Anatomical Pathology, in the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP), with an academic appointment at an appropriate rank in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University. The term for the Head of Service / Discipline Director component of this role is four years, renewable once. The Head of Service / Discipline Director reports to the Chief of Laboratory Medicine of Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a high level of clinical expertise and experience in any subspecialty of anatomic pathology. They will have an interest in innovation, quality and change management, a values-driven leadership style, and excellent communication skills that will facilitate a collaborative relationship with professional staff, technical staff, administrators, and senior leaders. Previous hospital leadership experience relevant to this role is essential.
The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment, and is expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. A commitment to academic scholarship in the areas of education, quality improvement, knowledge translation, innovation, and/or clinical/translational research is required.

The HRLMP encompasses five tertiary care hospitals operated by Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare and employs more than 34 anatomical pathologists in all subspecialties. Qualifications:
Applicants must hold certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent, in Anatomical or General Pathology, and hold or be eligible to obtain medical licensure in the Province of Ontario.
