Forensic Pathologist

Health Sciences North (HSN) in Sudbury, Ontario, is seeking a full time, part time or locum tenens Forensic Pathologist.

Position highlights:

--All autopsy work is performed Monday to Friday between 9 am and 4 pm.

--Interested applicants must be listed as a Category A Pathologist on the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) Register of Pathologists or meet the requirements to be eligible to be listed as such.

--Compensation is combination of per diem ($600/day) plus fee for service (current OFPS rates as follows: $300 external only; $1200 routine case; $1650 complex case), with variable year end bonus (first year guaranteed bonus of at least $100,000), with overall estimated annual income for full time work at $400,000-$550,000+, depending on desired caseload.

--Most full time pathologists will also be eligible for the Northern Recruitment and Retention initiative, administered through the Ministry of Health, currently $84,718 paid over four years, and additional recruitment incentives offered by Health Sciences North.

--Ability to practice through a medicine professional corporation, with favourable tax treatment (current small business tax rate of 12.2%).

--All travel and accommodation costs covered for locum pathologists.

--Flexible scheduling with 8+ weeks of annual vacation time (negotiable).

--Consideration will be given to physicians with US postgraduate training and certification, including J1 visa holders.
