Letter to Ontario Medical Association RE CANDI Score

Dear Dr. Alam, 

I am writing on behalf of the Ontario Association of Pathologists (OAP) and our members to express our dismay to learn about the OMA’s unilateral decision to increase the Lab Medicine CANDI ranking.

The attached letter expresses how the pathologists, throughout the province, feel about this and how this will impact our profession. Pathologists continue to be stretched thin by previous pay cuts, job freezes, increase in workload and complexity of work and are struggling with retention of pathologists in the province. 

The OAP strongly supports the OMA Lab Medicine Section’s actions and we hope that you will revisit and reinstate the CANDI ranking to previous level for the negotiations with MOH.
