Guideline for Locum tenens and Part-time Fees2005-01-02 General guidelines on contracts are available here A formula for estimating fair remuneration is as follows: Determine the number of days per year worked by a Full-time Laboratory Physician: 52 weeks per year less 8 to 10 weeks vacation and conference leave and statutory holidays = 42 to 44 wks multiplied by 5 days per week = 210 - 220 days per year Take the annual (salary + benefits) or fees of a Full-time Equivalent Laboratory Physician and divide by number of days worked to derive an equivalent per diem fee for Locum tenens or Part-time employment For example, Salary of $200,000 plus benefits of 25% = $250,000. Divide by 210 days worked = $1190 per day Murray Treloar MD FRCPC FCAP |
